Computer tools that will help manufacturers better understand the effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on composite electrically-powered aircraft (CEAs) are being developed through a European Union (EU)- and Canadian government-funded project. Started in February 2016, the 36-month Electromagnetic Platform for lightweight Integration/ Installation of electrical systems in Composite Electrical Aircraft (EPICEA) project has a budget of €3.4 million and is led by The Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aerospatiales (ONERA) of Palaiseau, France, and Polytechnique Montreal in Quebec, Canada.
