As for pulse tube refrigerators, it is difficult tounderstand the phenomena in pulse tube because gas in the pulsetube oscillates exchanging heat with wall. Therefore, it is necessaryto measure temperature profile in the pulse tube and to calculateenthalpy flow in order to understand the phenomena. We adoptedmeasurement using Rayleigh scattering in order to measure thetemperature profile in the pulse tube. We made a pulse tuberefrigerator with quartz-glass pulse tube. The pulse tuberefrigerator was refrigerated in air. Only the regenerator wascovered with insulators. Therefore, the pulse tube works as heatexchanger. Under the above conditions, the temperature profile inthe pulse tube has been measured and visualized. Enthalpy flow,work flow and heat flow have been calculated from the measuredtemperature profile. The calculated work flow plus the calculatedheat flow is equal to the calculated enthalpy flow. The calculatedenthalpy flow shows the level of heat exchange in the pulse tube.
