Australian miner to cut costs and jobs

South32 is to shed almost 400 jobs from its metallurgic coal and manganese operations in Australia as partof a cost-cutting exercise in the face of low commodity prices.At 100%-owned Illawarra Metallurgical Coal in New South Wales the company plans to reorganise themining complex into two operations and remove layers of management and functional support. At least 300employees and contractors will lose their jobs by June, the end of Australia's financial year.
