Zinc’s price has begun 2020 on a more positive note than it ended 2019 on the back of USChina trade deal developments and historically low refined reported stocks on the LME and in China. This year, we expect smelter output growth to outpace demand growth, particularly in China, putting downward pressure on prices. However, the possibility of a technical squeeze lifting prices remains until LME stocks begin to recover.
