Eucharis grandiflora [Urceolina grandiflora] plants, which had been grown at 30℃, were exposed to 15℃ for 10 days and then transferred to 20℃ or 30℃. Most of the plants transferred to 30℃ flowered, whereas some plants transferred to 20℃ did not. Plants flowered sporadically in the control bed where the soil temperature was not regulated. The flowering percentage was increased by heating the soil immediately after the soil-chilling. The number of flowering stems obtained per square meter per year was 7.3 in the control bed, 10.3 in the chilled bed, and 19.3 in the chilled and heated bed.
