For many chemical processes,an industrial packaged-typeboiler is a critical componentfor either power generation orfor producing steam. In the event thatboilers are taken offline due to a failure,the facility may experience a loss ofpower or production downtime, eachcarrying significant economic consequences. Improper treatment of boilerfeedwater can result in boiler tube failures due to oxygen pitting and scalebuildup on internal heating surfaces.This article provides an overview ofproper boiler feedwater treatment tohelp plants avoid failures.
