摘要

In the mid-1970s, catastrophic flooding was the inspiration for carpet cleaner Lloyd Weaver to invent the "Lloyd's Porta Dryer," which dried water-soaked carpet in the customer's home. Weaver's invention, an airmover, channeled air flow under carpet. Around 2000, a new method originally known as "in-place drying" gained popularity. Other than the moving and shifting of furnishings, "top-down drying" was marketed as being noninvasive and nondestructive. The two primary developers and proponents of this method were Chuck Dewald and Kurt Bolden. Dewald opened the first hands-on training facility, a "flood house," to teach the method.
