Rootstocks for temperate fruit crops: current uses, future potential and alternative strategies.

New rootstocks developed for use with apple, pear, sweet cherry (Prunus spp.) and plum trees are reviewed with respect to the benefits they provide to the fruit grower. The future use of rootstocks is discussed in relation to alternative methods forachieving the same objectives.
