The Low numbers of women working in science, especially in senior roles, is a hot topic, so I half expected Keeping women in science to be a denunciation of the system and a demand for change. Not so. Kate White is undoubtedly seeking change, but in this book she calmly and methodically reports on her research project into institutional practices that affect career progression for both men and women; and the particular barriers faced by women.
