42.8% of respondents said there was insufficient skiLLs development in their workplace over the previous 12 months. Of those that had changed jobs in the previous 12 months, 50.0% had moved for further professional development opportunities. Deprofessionalisation, professional standards and cost-cutting Deprofessionalisation - defined as the diminution of science capability across responsibility levels, industries and/or job functions - was seen as a concern with 26.9% of respondents noting a reduction in the number of scientists in decisionmaker roLes over the previous 12 months. 16.8 and 26.2% of respondents respectively said reduced adherence to professional standards and reduced service quality were evident in their organisation over the last 12 months. 59.2% of respondents reported that cost-cutting was an issue in their organisation.
