The synthesis of Lewis base (ligand = L) stabilised 'E(0)' compounds is currently a major area of study in p-block chemistry, both in Australia and internationally. High-profile examples have been reported for C1, Si2, Ge2, P2 and As2, where the E(0) core is found in an L-EE-L (or L-C-L for C1) arrangement.
