Quality of scented rice as influenced by graded levels of NPK, vermicompost and growth regulator (Triacontanol)

Scented rice popularly called 'Princes of rices' occupies a lofty status in rice cultivation and enjoys a special place in domestic and international market due to its several outstanding qualities. The area under scented rice in South India is veryless compared to north India. There is no much research data to show about its quality parameters when grown in south India. Hence, an experiment was carried out to study the effect of graded levels of NPK, vermicompost and triacontanol on quality of scented rice. The experiment was carried out in wet land of Agricultural Research Station, Siraguppa, Bellary district during kharif, 1997. The soil was deep black with pH of 8.2, organic carbon -0.63 percent, available P_2O_5-49.30 kg ha~(-1) and available K_2O-620.70 kg ha~(-1) Scented rice variety Pusa Basmati-1 was tested in three factorial randomized block design. There was totally 18 treatment combinations comprising, 3 levels of NPK, 2 levels of vermicompost and 3 levels of triacontanol (Table I).
