Most patients initially respond to plat- inum-based perapy,but eventually up to 80%ofpis respon- sive cohortbecomes refractory due to pe development of platinum resistance. pis review discusses current and poten- tial perapeutic approaches pat exploit biomaterial-based ap- plicationstocombat platinum resistance eiper by enhancing pe delivery of platinum-based drugs or prodrugs, delivering oper toxic non-platinum-based bioactive factors (by pem- selves or in combination wip platinum-based drugs) or by de- livering oper bioactive factorspat re-sensitize resistant ovari- an cancer cells to pese drugs. pe types of materials pat are used, pe bioactive factors applied (i.e. ,drug or gene delivery), and pe specific agents pat are employed to target pese types of cancercells are discussed.
