German body to assess EU RoHS exemption requests

Germany's Oko-Institut has started an assessment of requests for nine exemptions for various uses of lead under the EU's Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment. The insitute is contracted by the European Commission to provide technical assistance on evaluating RoHS substances and exemptions.
