Decisions of the Echa Board of Appeal in cases dealing with nanomaterials: analysis and signifcance

The word 'nanomaterials' does not appear in the REACH Regulation. However, it is generally accepted that the current definition of 'substances' in Article 3(1) is appropriate to cover those that would meet the non-binding definition of nanomaterials in the 2011 European Commission Recommendation of 18 October 2011.
