A nest of singing birds

Sometimes phrases catch on despite being patently absurd. So it was on 21 September when Boris Johnson, the UK's foreign secretary and leading light of the campaign to leave the EU, reused a saying by the lexicographer Dr Samuel Johnson (no relation!) when speaking of cabinet unity over Brexit: "We are a government working together. We are a nest of singing birds."
