PPG confirms it has phased out lead from all industrial paints

The world’s largest paint manufacturer, PPG Industries, has phased out lead from its entire portfolio this year, a spokesperson has told Chemical Watch. The US-based multinational has not used lead in consumer paints "for some time", the spokesperson said. In 2016, it committed to removing the heavy metal from the remaining industrial paints and coatings that contained it. Lead-containing products amounted to less than 1% of the company's $15bn portfolio, they said.
