In this study, a series of hierarchical nano-MEL (ZSM-11 type) zeolites with controlled sizes are successfully prepared by adjusting the contents of template-free BEA seeds. It is found that the hierarchical nano-MEL zeolites obtained by using 2% BEA seed as additives (i.e., HZ11-2) exhibit higher butene conversion and better catalytic stability than that of other nano-MEL zeolites. The novel and facile method provided here opens a new way to further study synthesis and application of hierarchical zeolite catalysts.
