Impact of feeding silkworm, through different methods with rainfed mulberry raised at varied levels of nitrogen on grainage parameters

The silkworm Bombix mori L. growth, development and reproductive potential depend on nutrient composition of mulberry leaves, which vary with agronomic practices such as system of cultivation, irrigation, fertilizer schedule and pruning practices apart from mulberry variety and environmental conditions (Krishnaswami et al., 1970). Of the three major nutrients required for improving both quality and quantity of mulberry, nitrogen is one of the key element in mulberry management and silkworm nutrition and it has been observed that mulberry responds differentially to different levels of nitrogen. Further, it has been opined that the silkworm rearing practices employed are known to have considerable influence on the cocoon and grainage traits of silkworm. Among them, method of offering mulberry to silkworm plays a vital role in determining the performace of silkworm crop. Keeping this in view, investigation was carried out on these lines to analyse the performance of nitrogen levels on rainfed mulberry and feeding methods in silkworm on grainage traits of NB_4D_2, breed.
