SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling coalition won a commanding majority of the votes during Sunday’s general election, media reports said on Monday. Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party and its partner Komeito kept its two-thirds supermajority in the 465-member lower house, according to reports. 'This election result boosts the chances for Abe to retain the leadership position during the LDP leader election in September 2018, which in turn, also paves the way for him to become the longest serving prime minister in Japan’s history,” said Singapore-based DBS Group Research.
