SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s caustic soda production is expected to increase by 2.5% year on year to around 34m dry metric tonnes (dmt) this year, with the growth rate decelerating from 2017 because of environmental controls and poorer downstream demand, an industry executive said on Thursday. China’s caustic soda production rose by 5.4% year on year in 2017, slower than the 9% expansion in 2016, according to Shi Wei Min, a director at trading firm Tricon Energy.
