DSM to utilise Germany's APK PE/PA 6 recycling tech for food packaging plastics

LONDON (ICIS)--DSM has developed a polyethylene (PE)/polyamide 6 (PA 6) barrier film for use in food packaging that can be recycled using a technology developed by Germany-based post- consumer plastic specialist APK, the Netherlands-headquartered firm said on Tuesday. The addition of PA 6 reduces the layer thickness of the film, while APK has developed a technique making it possible to recover re-granulates from the packaging with qualities close to virgin plastics from multilayer composites.
