Europe low TDI availability to continue in May after Ludwigshafen shutdown

LONDON (ICIS)--Tightness is set to remain into May in the Europe toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) market following BASF’s Ludwigshafen shutdown, sources said this week. There have been supply issues in the market since the firm shut down its 300,000 tonne/year Ludwigshafen plant in January in preparation for a new reactor. A company spokesperson said on Wednesday that the German seller assumes that the facility will be fully operational within a few weeks after a new reactor was delivered in early March.
