South Korea is still biggest PP exporter to China, non-dutiable areas are main import sources

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s polypropylene (PP) imports are still increasing year on year, but the share of imports in apparent demand (domestic output plus import volumes, minus export volumes) is declining gradually as self sufficiency increases. South Korea is still the biggest PP exporter to China because large volumes of more specialised polymer are traded with production plants recently started up or under construction. At the same time, imports from non-dutiable areas remain firm benefiting from price advantages and new plant capacities.
