Asia PS to stay firm on robust demand despite volatile SM prices

SINGAPORE(ICIS)--Asia’s polystyrene(PS)demand from the manufacturing sector is expected to stay robust in the near term which will keep prices firm despite volatility in feedstock styrene monomer(SM)values.In the week ended 12 April,spot prices of high impact polystyrene(HIPS)hit a five month-high of $1,385/tonne CFR(cost & freight)SE(southeast)Asia/China,up $20/tonne from a week earlier.General purpose PS(GPPS)also reached a five-month high of $1,305/tonne CFR SE Asia/China,up $10/tonne over the same period,according to ICIS data.
