INSIGHT: Struggle for global market share pushes US export PE prices to 10-year lows

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US Gulf region is currently in the midst of a massive wave of polyethylene (PE) capacity increases. Producers are on track to add around 6.5m tonnes/year of new capacity between 2017 and 2019, while as much as 14.5m tonnes/year of new capacity could be added prior to 2025 assuming all planned projects are brought to completion.
