Brazil’s GranBio to restart second-generation ethanol plant in January

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Brazil-based biofuels producer GranBio will resume commercial operations at its 82m litre Bioflex 1 cellulosic ethanol plant by the end of January, the company said on Tuesday. The plant, located in the northeastern state of Alagoas, extracts bagasse and straw from sugarcane to make cellulosic ethanol – or second-generation (2G) ethanol. The plant is the first of its kind built in the southern hemisphere.
