US July CS contracts headed higher by $20-40/dst

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US liquid caustic soda contracts for July have begun settling at an increase of $20-40/dst (dry short ton) as the market gains sentiment of snug-to-tight supply. Unplanned outages, a force majeure and the loss of an outlet of 150,000 tonnes/year of chlorine have reduced caustic soda operating rates and primed the market for higher prices, according to market sources.
