Single roll driven rolling, in which one of top and bottom work rolls (hereafter called WRs) is driven and the other remains idle, was introduced as an effective means to reduce roll force due to cross shear region in the roll-bite1). However, strip warpage behavior is considered to be aggravated by asymmetrical rolling. Hence there have been many studies concerning strip warpage behavior in relation to asymmetrical rolling, but there have been few reports for strip warpage behavior in single roll driven rolling2). Accordingly, in this paper, extensive model rolling experiments and also numerical analyses using a rigid plastic finite element method are conducted to investigate strip warpage behavior in single roll driven rolling and to study the main factors ruling the warpage characteristics and mechanisms of it.
