I read this quote on the airplane last autumn, I marked it as something potentially interesting for future pondering and continued reading. Agronomics was a subject I hadn't thought about much during either my two-and-a-half-year biodynamic horticulture apprenticeship in England or during the experiences and reading that led me to undertake that training. The farm where I apprenticed was fully supported by a Camphill community. The produce distributed to the public was sold more as a service than asa need to support the farming enterprise. What a wonderful situation: the farmer can concentrate on being the best possible grower, steward of the land and educator without the pressures of surviving 'out there' in the world of market driven prices and a society that views cheap food almost as a right.
