Editorial comment on urethral reconstruction

In children, urethral reconstruction is mainly required for congenital anomalies such as hypospa-dias or the exstrophy-edispadias complex. Urethral stricture disease is rare at this age. In contrast, in adults, urethral strictures represent the main reason for urethral reconstruction. Late breakdown of a previous reconstruction for hypospadias/epispadias repair is a less common indication for reconstruction, however, even more challenging.
