US retail diesel and gasoline prices fall,heating oil opens the season lower

According to the US EIA,the national average retail price for regular-grade gasoline(conventional and reformulated together)inched 0.3￠/gal higher from the Sept.30 price to $2.645/gal on Oct.7.The national average is now 25.8￠/gal lower than it was a year earlier.The national average price for regular-grade RFG rose to an eleven-week high of $2.929/gal-an increase of 2.2￠/gal on the week but a decline of 12.8￠/gal on the year.The national average for regular-grade conventional gasoline pulled down the average of both formulas,having lost 0.5￠/gal on the week to reach $2.513/gal.The average price for regular and reformulated regular-grade gasoline in the city of Houston,Texas,remained the nation’s lowest,falling 3.7￠/gal to $2.257/gal as of Oct.7.The Houston price for regular-grade RFG alone,however,was higher than the average RFG price for the state of Texas and the Gulf Coast region,which was $2.226/gal.The city of San Francisco in California had the highest price for the average of conventional and reformulated regular-grade gasoline as well as for regular-grade RFG alone at $4.100/gal-a 13.7￠/gal week-on-week increase.
