India's imports of petcoke showed strong growth but will slow in near term.

According to a report from a division of India's petroleum industry, imports of petroleum coke (petcoke) have grown at 12.6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the decade ending to the 2019-2020 financial year due to strong demand from cement makers, which began using petcoke in cement-making kilns in 2009-2010 financial year. Over the same period, imports of gasoline, LPG, and jet fuel, which were the next leading imports, grew at respective CAGRs of 8.9%, 7.2%, and 5.6%. In the 2017-2018 financial year, India consumed a record 25.7MM mt of petcoke, but demand fell 17% to 21.3% in the 2018-2019 financial year.
