Dirtier fuel oils fared better at Fujairah than lower-sulfur bunkers

Tightness in Fujairah's barge market has eased from Jan. when suppliers were not able to offer delivery in fewer than five days, according to unidentified trade sources. The delivered-basis price for 180-cst bunker fuel increased by 2.4% over the week ending Feb. 4 to $295/mt ($44.03/bbl), according to data from S&P Global Platts. The delivered price for 380-cst bunker fuel was 1.8% higher on the week at $285/mt ($42.54/bbl). Both of the price assessments represent a $26/mt ($3.88/bbl) discount to prices for comparable products at Singapore, compared to the previous week's $56/mt ($8.36/bbl) discount. Platts price assessments on Feb. 4 placed 0.5%-sulfur marine fuel oil at $532/mt ($79.40/bbl) on a delivered basis-representing a 7.5% week-on-week decline and a $247/mt ($36.87/bbl) premium over 380-cst HSFO bunkers. The delivered-basis price at Fujairah was $8/mt ($1.19/bbl) lower than Singapore prices, after being at parity in the previous week. Marine gasoil with 0.1% sulfur at Fujairah lost 4.4% over the week to end at $650/mt ($97.01/bbl) on a delivered basis while its premium to Singapore prices rose from $90/mt ($13.43/bbl) to $107/mt ($15.97/bbl). The FOB price for 380-cst HSFO saw a week-on-week decrease of 6.2% to $260.89/mt ($38.94/bbl).
