Scorpio Bulkers delays 13 scrubber installations in Monaco

Just like sister company Scorpio Tankers,Scorpio Bulkers has decided to delay the installation of scrubbers,which will allow high-sulfur fuel to be burned after the IMO's sulfur cap took effect,because of slowing demand for dry bulk and a narrow 3.5%-sulfur/0.5%-sulfur fuel oil spread,which was assessed at $53/mt ($7.91/bbl),compared to $296/mt ($44.18/bbl)on Jan.2.The company already installed 22 scrubbers as of May 8 while seven vessels are scheduled to have scrubbers installed from 2Q 2020 to 4Q 2021.Scorpio Bulkers reportedly invested $46,743MM to retrofit its ships with scrubbers.
