The Ministry of Environmental Protection of China will enforce the regulation on production in Beijing, Hebei and26 cities in its vicinity from November 15 to March 15 next year as countermeasures to reduce air pollution in the wintertime. The main purposes are understood to be not only the reduction in the exhaust gas emitted from the plants themselvesbut also the reduction in the exhaust gas emitted from power plants and the coal consumption by them resulting fromreduced consumption of electricity.
