China's Steel and Iron-making Raw Material Markets

In China, distributors' stock of steel products had ballooned to nearly 20 million tons as of March 16th, due to extrastock for seasonal demand increase (seen typically in spring). The distributors then started selling their stock with eagerness,in anticipation of the US invocation of Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act. This selling resulted in decliningprices of steel products; however, the market has now regained stability.
