Negotiations on grain-oriented electrical steel (GO) for shipments in the first half (Jan-Jun) of 2020 (1H20) to larger accounts have mostly ended. Amid the lingering impact of the US-China trade frictions on each economy across the globe, the large-sized transformer sector is no exception. Some Japanese mills had feared that the order volumes (in addition to the prices) might see considerable falls compared to those for shipments in 2H19.
