LW Mining Operation at Moranbah North Coal mine to Restart in Early June

Anglo American plc intends to restart a longwall (LW) mining operation at Moranbah North coal mine in the State of QLD, Australia in early June. At Moranbah North coal mine, the roof collapse accident occurred on 30 January 2020 when the longwall was being relocated. The operation of the said coal mine has been suspended for a long time because of the significantly delayed relocation of the longwall resulted from the accident, as a consequence of which the production volume of metallurgical coal at Moranbah North coal mine in the period from January to March in 2020 dropped to 451,000 tons. This represents a decrease of 1.882 million tons (80.1%) versus the prior period (October to December in 2019).
