Anglo’s Moranbah North met coal mine to restart in early June

London—Miner Anglo American said Thursday the underground Moranbah North coking coal mine in Queensland is planned to restart in June, after a roof fall in January. Moranbah North produced 450,800 mt in Q1, down from 2.3 million mt in Q4 2019. “The operation is on track for restart at the beginning of June,” Anglo said in a quarterly update. A geotechnical issue caused a roof fall at a section of the premium mid-vol mine at an area where no workers were present, with operations halted since the end of January.
