The sudden requirement to make clinical, legal and ethical decisions alone can be a daunting situation faced by many newly qualified pharmacists. Esnath Magola, an education supervisor and lecturer at the University of Manchester, has studied the transition from trainee to registered community pharmacist in the first year of work and her research shows how people can struggle with the suddenness of professional accountability.
