International health graduates-career path experience

10 years ago, The Lancet reported on the launch, in September, 2001, of the UK's first Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in international health for medical students at University College London (UCL). The growth in global health education since then, with at least seven similar degrees now running across the UK, is a reflection of the establishment of global health in the mainstream. The need to better prepare health workers to deal with the global influences on health in an interdependent world is now accepted. This milestone presents an opportunity to reflect back on the first generation of UK global health graduates and how the course might have helped shape their subsequent careers.
