The coal production at Moatize coal mine in Mozambique operated by Vale S.A., Brazil has dropped drastically since entering 2020. In fact, the coal production volume at Moatize coal mine in the period from January to June in 2020 was 3.246 million tons, down by 1.337 million tons (29.2%) from the year-earlier period. The production volume by coal type was 1.68 million tons of metallurgical coal (down by 23.2% from the year-earlier period) and 1.566 million tons of thermal coal (down by 34.7%), and the production ratio of metallurgical coal was 51.8%. The coal production volume during April to June out of the said total period stayed at 1.283 million tons, down by 1.087 million tons (45.9%) from the year-earlier period, the details of which were 698,000 tons of metallurgical coal (down by 38.6% from the year-earlier period) and 585,000 tons of thermal coal (down by 52.6%).
