South32 to Produce 7.7 Million Tons in Illawarra Region

South32 Limited plans to produce 7.7 million tons of saleable coal in the Illawarra region in the State of NSW, Australia in FY2020/21 (one year ending 30 June 2021). In the said region, 7.006 million tons of saleable coal was produced in FY2019/20. Hence, this represents an increase of 694,000 tons (9.9%) versus the prior fiscal year. The targeted production volume in FY2020/21 by coal type is 6.4 million tons of metallurgical coal and 1.3 million tons of thermal coal, and whereas the metallurgical coal production is up by 851,000 tons (15.3%) from the prior fiscal year, the thermal coal production is down by 157,000 (10.8%).
