Sempra Energy to Make FID for Energia Costa Azul Project

US-based Sempra Energy is planning a final investment decision for the Energia Costa Azul LNG production project in Mexico this March. As the first phase, facilities with an LNG production capacity of 3.25 million mt per annum are scheduled to be built. The company intends to sign a construction deal with France’s Technip shortly. Sempra Energy announced in its latest quarterly report released on 27th local time: “The FID is expected in the late first quarter of 2020.” The Energia Costa Azul project is one of Sempra Energy’s three big LNG projects in North America. For the first phase, the project has signed deals to supply 2.5 mtpa of LNG to Japan’s Tokyo Gas and Mitsui & Co., approximately 0.8 mtpa to France’s Total.
