Anglo American Q3 thermal coal output falls on year, met coal up

Anglo American’s total coal production was 21.17 million mt inthe third quarter, up 7% quarter on quarter but down 10% year on year,the miner said in a quarterly production report released Tuesday.Total coal production for Q1-3 was 61.73 million mt, down 5%year on year.Thermal coal production for Q3 was 15.64 million mt, of which6.27 million mt was for the export market. This is a 15% fall year onyear and a 4% drop from the previous quarter for export thermal coal.Q1-3 export thermal coal production was 19.6 million mt, a 5% lower onthe year.
