BP sells 'strategic' Forties pipeline to Ineos

BP has agreed to sell the Forties Pipeline System, which handles almost half of the UK's upstream oil production, to chemicals and refining giant Ineos for up to $250 million. It marks the latest in a series of deals by which majors such as BP and Shell have been offloading assets in the mature North Sea industry, which they once dominated, to concentrate on larger projects elsewhere.
