Equinor makes oil, gas find in Norwegian Sea southwest of Norne field

Copenhagen-Norwegian state-controlled group Equinor on Monday announced it had made an oil and gas find with a wildcat at the Snadd Outer Outer and Black Vulture prospects, southwest of the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea. Equinor said in a statement that, with partners Ineos E&P and Faroe Petroleum, it made the find with an exploration well in production license 159B. The well had two different reservoir targets: an upper drilling target containing 2 million-12 million barrels of oil equivalent of gas, and a lower target with an estimated volume of 1 million-48 million boe recoverable. Nick Ashton, Equinor’s senior vice president for exploration in Norway and the UK, said volumes were broadly as estimated, but that operational challenges prevented side-tracking. “We are evaluating both the time and place for further delineation to give us more accurate volume estimates,” Ashton added.
