Kuwait Energy flows first gas from southern Iraqi field

Siba, Iraq-Iraq’s oil ministry held a ceremony with Kuwait Energy and the Turkish Petroleum Corp. on Wednesday to announce the first commercial gas production from the Siba field in Basra. Siba, which was awarded to the two companies in a 2011 bidding round, is currently producing 25 MMcf/d of gas, oil minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said at the ceremony. He said it would reach 100 MMcf/d by the end of 2018, which is the plateau target of the contract, and is supposed to last for nine years.
