Iraq targets licensing round for border oil blocks in May

Baghdad-Iraq's oil ministry has set out plans for its latest oil field licensing round after prequalifying eight new international oil companies. The ministry has prequalified 26 companies for a bidding round it set for May 7, according to a statement released Monday. The bidding round is for eight fields or exploration blocks on or near the country's borders with Kuwait and Iran, as well as one exploration block in territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
